Hi all. Please can someone advise on a very noisy fuel pump in my MY97. Mainly on start up from cold, hardly any noise on tickover then very noisy when you press throttle. Any idea of cost. Many thanks.

A loud clicking, you can hear in the car which does eventually get quieter once the cars warmed up a bit. Sure it's the fuel pump on inner offside wing, clear resin top with two wires inside? cheers.

cheers Mark, I think it may be an air/vacuum pumpy thingy as two pipes go into the top of the engine and one to a round metal can (wastegate?)near the turbo. matti.

Thats your boost control solenoid.

They do 'tick' on part throttle.

Do you have any boost problems, i.e engine cutting out on full power/boost in higher gears?

You can try re mounting the valve on a rubber mounting,it may stop some of the noise comming through the bulkhead, as where it is mounted, the noise it makes transmits very easily.
