Question

Before anybody says I am unable to do a search (not allowed cookies)

Just wondered if someone could explain to me how to bleed the clutch, just want to see if it will help with a clutch/gearbox problem before I take it too the garage.

Car is a 22b by the way.

Use Dot 5 and a one man bleed pipe (oneway valve)you can get this in Halfords about £3 saves getting her indoors involved.
There are two bleed nipples first on clutch damper block behind drivers side suspension (follow pipe from master cylinder) and one on the slave cylinder (remove intercooler)
Fill reservoir with dot 5, attach bleed pipe to first nipple and loosen half a turn then pump the pedal until clean fluid comes through the pipe without air bubbles then tighten nipple top up reservoir again and repeat with second nipple.
Job done.
It will feel like a new clutch.

Would suggest you actually unbolt the slave cylinder off the bellhousing prior to bleeding, once you have freed off the bleed screw of course.
This will enable you to angle the bleed screw fully, so as to rid all the trapped air in the slave cylinder.

Otherwise if left bolted down, you wont be able to bleed fully. Well worth the effort!!

If you are going to do that (it is not necassary) you will have to use a G-clamp to hold the piston in.

Well since its going in for a cambelt and brake overhaul, I'm going to get the garage to do it, as well as change the gearbox and diff oils.

If I still have gearbox problems then its a warranty job for new syncros on 4th.
