shreaded my gearbox last week, oblitorated 2nd gear and selectors.
car is in garage as now. can anyone tell me which boxes r stronger uk or jap?
my 98 wrx ra v-spec , but ive been told that it was a uk box that i shreaded.is a uk box compatiable with jap motor?
advice please!!!!

i think you will find they are all pretty much the same except different ratios

i take its just one of down falls of owning a scooby then.
ive been quoted £2000 without labour for repair does this sound about right?

No it doesn't sound right, should be about half of that, depending on what you've done. I know the later gearbox synchros are very pricey, but it shouldn't be that expensive. I also thought the pukka RA gearbox was supposed to be the strongest "standard" box.
