Synthetic Gearbox Oil
#1
The gearbox on my MY98 is a little notchy when changing gear form first to second and second to third, I used to have a similar problem on my old Primera eGT. I tried some Motul fully synthetic gearbox oil and it made a huge difference. Dunno if it will do the same to an Impreza turbo, just thinking about it really. Only bothered if I do it myself will it bother my Subaru warranty. It had its oil change not that long ago but I would assume they put pretty average oil in as they only use magnatec for the engine! Anyone any ideas? And maybe what type of oil to try as I can only get Motul locally, but if anybody has good results with something else I can easily get it mail order. ALso what capacity does the gearbox hold is it 4 litres? Obvioulsy it has a dipstick just wondered really. Also if I do change it do I fill it through the dipstick hole? Or is there somewhere else? Cheers!

Decent gear oil can make a big difference. I use Redline Heavy Shock after trying Silkolene first and I rate it! You can get it mail order from Demon Tweaks (and probably loads of other places too).
