Question

I've got a Firestorm backbox on an MY98 at the moment,

but not sure wether to go elsewhere for the centre and downpipe, or go back to TSl for the rest.

Anyone have any experience of the TSL stuff ?
Or..any other centre and Downpipe i should consider ?

Johnny

I have the downpipe mounted to a HKS superdrager exhaust. There is a small narrow point at the joint, that is the only thing i have noticed. The downpipe gives a Niiiiice sound as the hole from the turbo is freeflowed.. And it is cheap :-)

I have full TSL decat downpipe and centre, used to have Firestorm back box also (but it gave me a headache).

Good quality stuff...

I have the TSL downpipe and centre mated to a std STI backbox. Nice and quiet with just a gentle rumble; just the way I like it. The sound would change dramatically if I changed the backbox.

Thanks for the comments lads.

The Firestorm is already quite loud, and i'm not bothered if it gets louder

Think i'll just go for it then.

Any fitting problems then ??

nope, no problems fitting to my RB5. You'll just have to trim the heatshield, but you have to do that with any 3rd-party downpipe.

Cool

I've the full TSL kit - BUT a 3" Grp N not a Firestorm -

I fitted the centre and they did the down pipe - Its a bit noisier with the full de-cat, but not bad at tickover or steady speed (can;t say for Firestorm though )

NICE turbo noises and Pop/bangs !

Cool

Cooool !! Pops and bangs rule !!

Definately going to go for it.

Is it a good idea just to get rid of the heatsheild ? Or safer just to trim it to fit if needed ?

Thanks again for the feedback.

I also have a full TSL system - a GrpN twin-pipe backbox, decat centre section and their brand new Sports-cat downpipe (which flows as freely as a decat but with obvious emissions benefits).

Sounds awesome IMO, plenty of pops and bangs (although curiously there are fewer pops and bangs - smoother altogether - now that the downpipe has been fitted).

highly recommended quality kit

On the TSL website, the grpA downpipe is around £217.

Not too bad really.

my sports-downpipe cost 500 inc.vat. I think it retails as more but I took the development downpipe (exactly the same spec) for a lower price as it had done 200 miles
