Gearbox
It is possible to beat the syncro (though you have to be fast) so it maybe that when you slow down no problems.
SO:
1. Slower gear changes
2. Syncro may have gone
3. Replace sync and gear cogs after an inspection has taken place
4. Get a second hand box
5. Before 2 onwards take it to a specialist, also when was the oil changed and have you checked the levels?

it's the syncros most probably, change the gearbox oil for Castrol Syntrax if it's not been done for a while (about 4 litres off the top of my head) it's been know to cure alot of gearbox problems
otherwise new syncros, but that's a pain to do
