A mate has got fed up with his poor gearbox performance.
He was recommended Silkolene SYN5, on trying to purchase said oil he was recommended Redline 75W90 NS as being superior. He has now 'fitted this' to the vehicle (hoping insurance isn't now invalidated due to fitment of after market products ) After 50 miles no effect is noted.
Subaru in Holland have recomended quote 'a very special Subaru oil' with a part number that I don't have to hand!
Anyone tried any of these? Any of them give a noticeable improvement ?
Cheers
Mick

Castrol Syntrax is what Subaru recommend, I think someone from Subaru is getting around... because they recommend Castrol though out the car.
The gearbox has a hypoid gear (what Holland is talking about), and most oil manufacturers don't make oil for this, and if they do they mention it on the container, this could be a big part of the performance issue.
