Whats the best way to get a good seal on the flexi joint betwen the DP and centre section.

I will be fitting one this arvo, but the flex-flange joint on the ScoobySport Downpipe does not (from memory) look as tidy as that found on the standard downpipe i.e the SS is just a straight bit of pipe with a flange joint.

Is it best to use some exhaust paste ?

Hi Scott

The flange on our downpipes replicates the Subaru flange. You re-use the donut gasket and the seal will be perfect.

The 3" ended downpipes have just a flat flange, but this is designed to go with The HKS centre section and you should use your HKS gasket if this is the centre you are using.

You should not use the 3" end downpipe with a 2.5" centre section.

Unless its an 01-03 car, which doesn't have a flexible joint at the end of the downpipe anyway

Cheers Pete,

I didn't realise that the doughnut came off the old DP.

Cheers...

P.S I slackened off the top 3 nuts/bolts last night to speed up the process this afternoon. DO you have any tips on re-fitting i.e greasing nuts/bolts and refitting exhaust heatshields (as tempted not to refit heatshield, and possible use exhaust heat wrap).

P.P.S It's an MY00

can help you with the heatsheild, know exactly what needs to be done & how to fit it etc (done mine about 20 times recently trying to sort out my horrendous boost control!)

Its important not to grease the nuts. They get so hot that just about anything you put on will burn and may clog the threads, preventing a future removal, for say a clutch job. Using WD40 to aid their removal is fine though.

I would refit the heatshield and not use exhaust wrap on the turbo. The turbo gets so hot that it melts exhaust wrap, turning it to a big lump of glass that gets bonded on
