I need to change the clutch on my STI RA, it is pushing out about 320bhp and a similar torque figure. I believe the clutch in the car is the original one and has started to slip when driving briskly!

I had used a AP 4 paddle clutch and a AP organic clutch in my old EVO...the paddle clutch was a nightmare and I eventually welded it to my fly wheel, the organic clutch was very good and handled the power very well...340bhp with 330 torque!

The only problem with the AP is the expense and also I see that a few Scooby owners have had problems with them, has any one got one from Mark at Lateral????

Check the threads on borg and beck clutches. Well worth a look from what I can tell.

I'm running just over 300bhp and I'm getting one fitted short doors.

Marks (Lateral Performance) organic clutch is simply stunning, drives better than stock, and stong enough for even quite modded cars.

Deeply recommended.

Steve I'll be very interested in your views on the borg and beck, it just seems a bit cheap to be upto the job!! I have heard a few good views about the Lateral's clutch and this is what I'm guessing will be the best option for my needs!

I'll wait to hear from you Steve, when are you having it fitted?

Hi Dom,

JGM and DreXeL have both fitted and it's from seeing their reviews that I am interested in getting one.

I e-mailed the supplier and was told that the clutch comes with 3 year warranty which covers all costs for labour, towing etc if the clutch fails. I was also told that the warranty was in place regardless of who fitted the clutch which is nice coz I'll be doing it with a pal on a homer.

Not convinced the Borg and Beck would be up to lots of power though..

guess I will find out eventually but only running probably 270 on a good day..

I believe they are only standard spec..

Has anyone else tried the borg and beck clutch, I've just got a quote from Mark at Lateral for the uprated organic clutch and it is QUITE expensive!

I know it'll be a false economy if I fit the cheaper clutch and it can't handle the extra power, but it is SOOOOO much cheaper!!

All advice would be much appreciated!

i used a borg and beck it lasted 2 months but i did need a flywheel but didnt do it and my wife doesnt just ride me!!

Borg and Beck is ****e - had an uprated one on a cossie and it lasted 2000 miles and had all sorts of grief trying to claim under the warranty - a bunch of muppets...I actually thought that B&B were owned by AP but could be wrong - who knows

Go for the AP - better than Timex from what I've heard - I'm running over 400bhp and over 350lbs and the Organic AP is fine at £400 plus about £150 fitting (Powerstation did mine). I had the 4 padles before - what a nightmare - had to rev to 5000 rpm to move car forward - changed the plate at £120

From the heavily modded ones I know Timex have not lasted long

You could speak to Mark Aigin at Lateral performance who will give you good impartial advice - i.e. the no bull**** approach - speak to him - he may give a different opinion to me - but has dealt with 100's of Scoobs!

borg and beck is an ap brand i havent changed mine again yet need to get a flywheel first i dont think the borg and beck will take any more power than std.

but whos got a std car!!!

Ordering my Borg and Beck at the weekend Dom so will let you know how it's performing in a few weeks.

Best of luck with the lateral. I just can't justify the kind of expense required for an uprated clutch at the mooment. Might be false economy in the long run but with the deal being offered, I'm willing to take the chance!!
