Angry

Driving along at 30mph this afternoon I came to a roundabout, slowed down, stopped and pulled away.

Suddenly I could hear a sort of quiet grinding noise coming from where sounded like underneath the gearstick!

The only way to describe it is that it is to imagine small grains of sand getting into a cog, and you get that crackly type of noise.

I reached my destination, left the car for 3 hours, got back in hoping it would be OK, but the noise was still there.

I am not losing traction, in fact the car seems to be fine apart from this annoying noise.

Does anybody have any idea at all about what could have caused this, and do I need to stop driving the car immediately?

All help and advice is massively appreciated.

Ta

Michael

If u have not munch any of the teeth try using some Redline shoock proof oil and u ll never look back
It saved my 150Kkms with around 400hp+ at the fly.

Hi Matty,

No just when driving, I dont have to be driving very fast either, 20 - 30 mph and it starts?

Not in neutral either?

Thanks

Well my advice(not that i know all that much) is to drop the g'box oil chuck in some cheapish 'box oil CRUISE round the block,if it's loads quieter/noise gone then i would imagine that it's a broken tooth etc, check drained oil for any pieces to confirm this, any competent garage should do this if you don't fancy doing it yourself,it won't cure the problem but it may confirm the cause...just an idea....
