I took the figures from the dyno site for all the MY99 and 00 standard and full decat cars and put them in a spreadsheet for Well Lane, PE and Powerstation and took the Star results from Scoobymods - thanks Pete - and in bold averaged the results for each for power and torque. The numbers are too small to draw any statistical significance conclusions, so don't read too much into it. I allowed cars with induction kits on (since they don't make any real difference from what I could see and added to the pool of data). Star results are all temperature corrected to 48-49 deg C air temperature which inflates the BHP figures (anyone know how much from 20 deg C - tried to search on DIN 70020 to find out - no joy). They are also longer Star runs than are presently being used.

As expected the pattern APPEARS to be: Well Lane>PE>PS>Star, MY99>00, Decat>standard.

I wouldn't like to suggest any more than there appearing to be a trend in this direction.....

I'm sure I have the temperature and pressure correction calculations written down somewhere. I'll look them out...

are they the old star or new star results?

bearing in mind that a topmount car would sure suffer more on the old star runs than a front mount.

Found it. The units aren't standard SI as it stands, but at least they are metric!

Correction factor = 1.18 * ((std_pressure/Air_pressure) * (Amb_temp/Std_temp)^0.5) - 0.18

Pressure is in mBar, temp is in K

"Standard" pressure is 990mBar and "standard" temp is 298K

^ is "to the power".

I haven't had a chance to test its sanity -- I beleive you need to with these dodgy industrial standards...

Star dyno'd a MY00 UK with a PE decat downpipe, Magnex resonated centre section and STi backbox today. It ran 221-222 BHP and 216-222 lbft with the new shorter run length over three runs with charge temperatues peaking at 51 C (big fan and waterspray) on the first two runs and 59 on the third where the load was brought in at slightly lower RPM. So it does seem to be the most conservative rolling road. The shorter run time does not affect the figures produced. See new thread on Star rolling road.
