Question

I have an MY98 with the following mods

Full scoobysport decat
Pipercross induction kit
Sti intercooler Y Pipe and hoses (and soon Sti v4 intercooler)
Power engineering remapped ecu

The car currently runs 1.1bar boost with a bit more in the higher gears. I am told the ecu is remappable for future mods.

Would it be safe to run at 1.2/1.25 bar if the ecu was remapped accordingly or is this too much for my standard turbo or injectors?

Thanks

George

Cool

Ran 21-22psi peak boost for about 18 months on my UK98 which had ppp ecu, decat, cone filter, (1mm wastegate oriface -£2 - to give boost) Samco i/c hoses, Optmax + booster. Had fair amount of verbal abuse from "knowledgable" people who said it would melt pistons etc etc.
Had it select monitored every 3-6 months and when stripped there was no damage - just slight discolouration to tops of pistons.
PPP ecu reduced boost to about 1 bar-ish (15-16psi) at 6K revs which helped destress engine - but it was great to drive with peak boost at 3K revs. Gave 278BHP and 265 ft-lbs.
Not to say that yours will survive !!!!!!!!!........

Cool

Stan,

Did you have the engine stripped down purely to prove that "knowledgeable" people were wrong?

George,

1.2 - 1.25 bar in the midrange is absolutely no problem if mapped accordingly!

Mark.

Cool

Moray - no !
I decided to go for the "big" one and spend serious money trying to see what a 2l would give. £12K + later - still trying !!
