Trim the scoop so that the hole at the back is big enough to go over the new downpipe.

Thanks Pete but time is an issue at the moment so wondered as the 97 cars dont have it and have the same TDO5 Turbo? could i get away not fitting it or is it known to damage the turbo under heavy useage?

Can't help about the surround but was wondering how easy it was to fit your downpipe as I am about to fit an HKS to my MY95 wrx?

The 97 cars do have a turbo heat shield but it is a different shape. Your one takes cooling air from the scoop, but someone then worked out that turbos don't need air cooling.

The shield protects surrounding components from the radiant heat of a yellow hot turbo. I know some people run without this, but I wouldn't.

I have also just fitted a JW-Racing(magnex) twin dump downpipe and have the same problem. I am gonna re-fabricate my shield to fit though, mainly to try and dissipate some of the heat generated by the turbo.
