Question

I am about to purchase a full system decat exhaust, and wondered if I should be thinking about doing anything else at the same time.

The car is an STi I, and is, as far as I know, standard engine wise.

I have seen posts about also fitting a knock sensor, getting the ECU remapped, etc. Is that really necessary? (I can just about afford the zorst!)

What's the consensus on this?

cheers for your help.

the consensus is that you cannot just whack on a full de-cat & do nothing im afraid, just do a search for the words de-cat/re-map & learn, its a big gamble leaving it like you intend to, especially if your heavy footed mate

Most people I know who have put full decat systems on cars (like me ) haven't gone as far as getting new ECU's which are remapable.

The zorts and high flow air filter are the easiest (and cheapest) mods you can do to a scoob.

Once you have gone that route then the next step is a new chip but you don't have to go that far if you just want a few extra BHP from a better breathing car.

An STi 1 will be fine and very enjoyable with a full exhaust. Its the later ones that need closer monitoring, especially if local fuel is a poor grade.

Ok, well cheers for the feedback guys.
Not sure what system to go for yet - thinking about either Mongoose or Scoobysport - Suggestions?

Carrot,

I've had a full scoobysport system on my Terzo for over a year now.

I'm still in love with the sound and with an ITG pannel filter I got 40bhp extra on a UK car

The new system is supposed to be even better made than my original unit which I thought looked great.

Ian
