Attached is a (rather badly focussed) picture of the red Tomei 740 plug vs the OEM 440s.
A few problems - the easy ones first...
1. Lugs on the sides are asymmetrical so left one needs filing off.
2. Lugs on the top foul the connector so also need filing off.
Now the trickier one:
3. The 2 connector pins are 1/3 from the top of the red injectors but 1/3 from the bottom of the yellow ones.
For 3 the plug would fit a lot better by using the connector rotated 180 degrees compared with the OEM effectively reversing the polarity.
Do injectors mind which way they are polarised given that they receive as I understand a DC duty cycle? I hear they are not, but please confirm. I could always reverse the wiring in the loom if I really have to.
If rotating 180 degrees I will grind off the right hand lug and all the ones at the top, so there will be nothing holding the injector plug on - suggestions... I did think of a thin rim of glue, but it is hardly elegant.

I have found no difference regardless of polarity.
If you're worried about polarity you can usually take the contacts out of the sockets and switch them.
Alternative sockets might be a good idea, probably available from a nissan dealer, and possibly from someone like part co. as they do all sorts for injectors (should fit S14/15 200sx and possibly maxima).
A bit of a pain I agree, sorry for the trouble!

It looks like I just grind the top and left hand side lugs off, turn it round and glue it in - this sort of plug doesn't easily ping off. No the OEM connector doesn't fit. But I'll see if I can swap the direction of the pins around.
It is not a trouble Paul, I think they will work fine after "adjustments".

as far as securing th eplug, I have used 2 tiewraps. One around the body of the connector, which I use to run a second to somewhere convenient (in this case under the retainer because it was raised as per my 550 installation).

Theres no need to glue anything, trim the two side ribs off, trim the two ribs either side of the connector catch off but leave the connector catch, shorten the connector hsg. on the injector by about 3mm, carefully ease the two terminal pins in the injector over at an angle to meet the connector mating terminals and it will snick straight on with no loom mods, no glue and securely locked. The injector pins will guide themselves into their mating sockets and make good contact.
I've done several sets like that with no problems.
cheers
