Just fitted my scoobysport dp - and I love it !

Only took me and hour and 10 mins to do so was well chuffed

So if anyone is put off by doing it themselves think again....

NB. If your motor is old then it maybe more difficult to undo the bolts lol

My only concern was after I had finished it - i took if for a run and when stoped, wondered what the burning smell was - so opened bonnet to see a bit of smoke - I damn well hope it was the release agent burning off that i sprayed on the turbo bolts to undo them ...

Has anybody else experienced this ?

Cheers
Nick

Yeah smell and burning is normal.

dont be too cocky, they are not all easy. Having done quite a few now, i have experienced the easy (30 minutes), and the PITA (6 hours), and in between.

The 6 hour one was my current car, with only 80 miles on the clock.

Well done though.

Question

Nick,

Have you any other exhaust mods other than the down-pipe? I'm just interested in knowing what difference replacing the down-pipe on its own makes.

Surely if the exhaust gas leaves quicker through the down-pipe it only ends up backing up when it hits the next cat and therefore gains are limted by the rest of the exhaust.

Mine was not so nice either.
Rounded off nut on the worst one to reach, every other nut seized solid. 6 hours later and it was all worth it!

Good to read this as I'm getting a Hayward & Scott DP fitted next week and can't wait. Already got the Scoobysport (eg. H&S) backbox so should go well although I'm keeping the middle cat for MOT purposes.

Hello Can Nick or anyone else answer this for me? I am working offshore at the moment and my mate took my car into the garage to get a full scoobysport de cat system fitted. He said when he put it over the pit in his garage he noticed that spring bolts had not been fitted from the downpipe to middle section. Should it have spring bolts? If so where do i get these? Thanks Gary

Yes they should have spring bolts, to allow the joint to flex.
You can get them from any exhaust place.
