I am looking to optimise my legacy, make it a bit quicker, handle etc.
Any ideas guys? The mods the car has on it, as far as i am aware, are an impreza turbo, upgraded map sensor?, replacement k&n element and a stainless system from the cat back. I.e. nothing that is really going to make too much of a difference. The car also had ebc TGD disks and Pagid blue pads. Suspension is standard KYB replacement.
So...what would be a sensible and costefective upgrade, chips? Cat replacement downpipe? DIY induction Kit?
All suggestions welcome

Pretty much anything that fits an early impreza will fit a legacy engine wise. Exhausts can be bought specific for a Legacy, or adapt an Impreza one.
Go for, induction kit, and complete de-cat exhaust first off. The list goes on, and is really endless if you have the money. If you do a search, im sure loads of options will come up.
The map sensor you refer to ( if you are indeed referring to it ) is exactly the same for a legacy, as it is for an impreza. No modifications there.

I didn't think there was such a thing as an uprated map sensor, unlike cossies where you need to upgrade for big boost. The troublr with my car is that wo of the previous owners are Prodrive and Bill Gywne Motorsport! So its been fettled with and nobody knows what exactly has been done. It will outdrag a ppp equiped impreza though!

I have an uprated map sensor on my legacy. well, not right this second. It just means I you can map the ecu for higher boost, as the old standard ones max out at about 17.2psi
But upgrade wise, I would recommend exhaust, remove induction resonator and/or fit induction kit, decent brake pads and discs (pagid Blue or Ferodo DS2500 pads), 16" impreza wheels, decent tyres (toyo TS-1, goodyear F1 etc).
I ran with a home made fuel cut defender and bleed valve for a while, but have now remapped factory ecu, not quite finished (never get time to do own car) but otherwise very good.
