Hi,

Just been thinking anout the standard location of the header tank after id been talking to jonnyGav, what are peoples opinions on its location.

Its located (bolted) to the inlet manifold, not sure which piston that side of the inlet manifold supplies..... but can its location cause any problems with heat transfer from the hot header tank to the incoming air..????

Is there a risk of this piston receiving a lean mixture..???

I have fitted an alloy header tank from the later impreza to my MY95 WRX and was thinking about insulation where it bolts to the inlet..?? or mounting it in a different location.

Dan, a lot put nylon spacers between the inlet manifold and the header tank, to disipate the heat. If you go to Elvington today, have a look at Harveys car, and you will see.

The piston numbering as you stand at the front of the car looking at the engine bay is as follows, IIRC

3(nearest turbo) 4(near starter motor)
1(nearest headlight) 2(nearest battery)

Putting a spacer in, is something i am going to do to mine.

The spacers can be expensive to buy.

I made my own along with inlet manifold spacers, it take's a while to make the inlet manifold spacers.

You can buy glass filled nylon 66 from RS.com
It's sold in either rod or sheet form.
If you just want to make spacers for the header tank I would by it in rod form and drill the center out.
