Hello there,
Shouldn't cost anything like that much to replace a standard clutch.
I had mine done recently and the average cost seems to be £85-£185 for the clutch and £100-£200 for the labour.
You might need a new flywheel at the same time which can add to the expense though a lot of dealers seem to do a part exchange on your old one if it is machineable.
Hope this helps.
Roy.

Quicksilver14 have replaced the clutch in my scooby MY95 the worst part of the job is removing the exhaust and turbo heat shield (take out the air box you'll get to the heat sheild bolts easier) you also have to remove the intercooler to take off the slave cylinder. Also on the passenger side of the bell housing there is an allen key bung remove that screw a ten millimeter bolt (six mill thread) into the cross shaft and pull it out, if you don't do this you will not be able to remove the box, also because it is an alley block and a alley gearbox mine was corrodide together which made it a ba5tard to get appart. Any problems give me a shout.
