Can someone give me an idea as to which type of down pipe is the best: Open-neck or Twin-dump type and why. It's for a MY98 Impreza Turbo AWD 2000.

Hi,

Depends who you talk to. I have an open neck one at the moment and found it better than a closed neck version of the same downpipe.

I'm actually changing mine soon for MRT's design which has a flange built into the normal open neck design which keeps wastegate gases separate and feeds them in a bit further down the pipe than a conventional open neck.

I'll post up when I get it fitted to report if ther is any improvement. MRT tell me that it will flow significantly better than my existing Hayward and Scott 3" one. We'll soon see!

Cheers

Rich
