Question

Hi
I have a Nurspec R exhaust which includes the back box and center section. It is 3" all the way through except where it joins to the original downpipe where it narrows to 2.5"

When I get round to changing the downpipe I'm thinking that the best set up would be a 3" to 3" with a custom made 3" end put on the blitz centre so its 3" all the way through from the turbo back.

It would be a lot easier & cheaper to just get a 3" to 2.5" downpipe & leave the 2.5" narrowing.

I'd like to know if:

The 3" to 2.5" narrowing is advantagous in any way? ie backpressure? To my layman thinking its just an obstruction to flow.

Or if 3" all the way through is the best set up and offer the best gains

Any info much appericated

IIRC, £35 to change my Downpipe to 3" all the way and the same for the Blitz, so £70... however i am having some other work done to the system to straighten it out a bit.

Rob, once you have done all these mods any plans on how you will pass the MOT as none of the orginal pipes will fit unless you change the whole lot.

Ive gone for a 3inch straight through downpipe to match my HKS Hiper.

It is currently going through a modification by H&S as recommended by many power scoob owners. It is the splitter at the end of the openeck. That way, you get the full flow from the 3 inch & have the back pressure from the splitter

Hope this helps.

5 Type R & Money: Is the d/p 3" to 2.5" or 3" to 3"?

Rob: where did you get ur custom center made & what did it cost you?

Bob: I've been told on 22b.com that the less the backpressure the better, can you direct me to any posts on this board that say otherwise, plz?

Cheers

Jazz
