Do not use a filter from a local DIY shop!!!!!!!!
People do get away with it but i know a number of people who have claims going through for 'cheap' oil filter failure on scoobs..
I would only really use an OE. oil filter BUT have fitted Champion filters in the past which are available at halfords..
Mobil 1 'motorsport'15/50 or castrol RS 10/60 seem to be the 'off the shelf' oil of choice.. i have used both and am happy with them.
Plugs wise, NGK platinum PFR6B would be my choice for a slightly tuned or standard car, but if the car is modified at all (boost increase, PPP, jap car) i would fit PFR7B's.
They can be awkward to change, but if you allow yourself enough time to do it then it isnt really that much of a problem
Castrol Syntax gear oil has good words from scoob owners..
As for the fuel filter, any Car spares co. supplied filter will be ok..
You havent mentioned an air filter, if you have an induction kit (which you shouldnt really have on a MY99 IMHO) then you should also change the air filter whilst carrying out the service..
Also check the condition of your HT leads and it is worth changing your Drive belt (alternator belt) as they are quite cheap.

Thank you for taking the time to post the info.
I fitted a ITG filter a couple of weeks ago hence the lack of comments on the filter
