Question

I have a Forge recirc DV fitted to my P1 at the moment. The car is down on boost a bit - could the strength of the spring in the DV affect boost levels at all? I can't find any leaks in the system so I'm just looking at other possibilites.

It has the blue spring fitted at the moment; I believe I'm correct in thinking the red one is stronger? Might this hold boost better or am I barking up the wrong tree?

That said, the current spring is a bit stonger than the OEM one

Hmmmm.

I think that the valve is kept closed by a combination of the manifold pressure and the spring which keeps the valve on its seat when it is not trying to dump the pressure from the turbo when you close the throttle. I suppose it is possible for the valve to lose a bit of boost, more likely to be a poor seal of the valve body rather than the spring. Maybe a bit of lubrication might help it on.

Thumbs up

Cheers Les, those nice people at Forge sent me 2 new springs for free today A very firm red one and a very soft green one. I've fitted the red one and will see how I get on tomorrow!

That should be ok then, maybe a bit of lubrication on the valve might help while you have got it apart. Hope it works now.
