Anyone have a lot of 'skweel-skweel-skweel' noise from their cambelts? Is it indicative of something, like needs tightening??

I have a v4 STI and it's making a din, just like my UK Scube before it. I squirt some WD40 on the belts as the engine is running and all noise stops for a few days.

Should I be doing this??? What is it???

Do you realy mean the cam belt or is it the alternator and aircon belts ?
If its the cam belt you realy shouldnt be spraying oil onto it, if it slips then its good by engine.
I suspect what your talking about is the 2 belts right at the front on the engine ? for the alternator and aircon, these are easy to change...mine also made a noise so i bought the alternator belt from Subaru..about £20 and the aircon belt from Halfords £10 as my local Subaru garage didnt stock it.
When you come to change the aircon belt be carefull of the tensioner at the bottom of the threaded bar as it snaps very easy .
As i said at the start IF its your cam belt thats making the noise then dont spray anything onto it and get it changed ASAP...if its the other two belts then change then when youve got time.
