Right,
Lets get one thing straight I'm tight, so Modena (sp) Quaife ATB etc are out..
I need to make a rear diff with a 3.9:1 ratio for my 6spd box..
The sport has the correct ratio, however no lsd.. (drugs argh)
so obviously the plan is to stip a sport diff and rebuild it into a turbo diff thus keeping the rear lsd but changing the ratio..
Is there any difference between a UK turbo LSD and a WRX / STI LSD??
If so what and which is better discuss in no more than a 1000 words, due in by Monday Morning..
Dismissed..

There is such a thing as an Sti Plated rear diff.
Stevieturbo found one when working on the P1 setup that went on to Micheals Legacy.
This may well be better for high power setup.
Should be able to find one s/h.

I think there are diff ratios for current scoobs on the spec sections of the website.
Edit: Why not just get an STi 7/8 diff? they're 3.9:1 Or what about using a front diff and putting it in the rear diff box?

I know they are fairly scarce but if you can find a MY95 WRX RA breaking then they have a 3.9 lsd in the rear.
I was 'half' thinking about going for Colin's Prodrive RA box which has a 4.1 in it. I would need to change my rear diff to 4.1 in that case.
Make me an offer ? Or find me a 4.1 rear LSD and it might sway the decision

Legacy diffs are slightly different. The driveshafts at the rear of most legacy's I have seen fit in the same way the front driveshafts do... ie with a roll pin, onto a stub.
Saying that, Michaels 1990 Legacy RS ( Jap spec ) had an impreza type diff when he bought the car, although we did also find out aferwards that it didnt have the original gearbox in the car, so may have had a diff change at some point too.
Other than that, the actual casing is the same, so fitment is the same....Just use the diff back plate to suit the car, as one has longer studs.
As for the P1 plated diff...not just one, I know of at least 2, along with several STI diffs, which is what a P1 is anyway.
The STI7 will have a 3.9 rear diff, but it also has the R-180 diff, so basicallly you would the entire rear end ( diff/hubs/shafts etc to do that install.
While on topic.....He still has the P1 box and diff for sale. Very low miles, and in perfect condition. To be sold together, not seperately.

There are only a select few that have the larger rear diff.
The P1 has the normal size, as do most Type R's as far as I know.
A few STI-RA's have the large rear diff, and the 22B, other than that, Im not sure.

The nissan internals may be the same, but i doubt the casing will be???? I may be wrong though. But if you do get one, you will need driveshafts and hubs. as they are also larger
