Crunchy Gears
#1
When I change into 2nd or higher i find that it sometimes crunches into place but normally only with higher revs - also reverse is a pain at anything over tickover aswell - is the clutch adjustable or is there something else wrong here ?
Any help gratefully received.

Hi Dave - It doesnt slip at all which was my first thought - just a bit crunchy as if it needs adjusting but these are hydraulic clutches aren't they ? It had a new clutch in about 14K ago by the guy I got the car from.

had exactly the same prob as you, crunchy gears at high rev changes and a box that just felt very notchy. Changed oil to castrol syntrax 75W 90 (castrolclassicoils.co.uk) also available from halfords but expensive, now it is 10 times better. Took about 50 miles to really take effect but you would have thought it was a different gearbox! Find a mate with some ramps and you should have it done in 45 mins. Most of the time is spent re filling as you have to do it throught the bloody dipstick hole!!
