OK,

Fitted the magnex centre pipe (in addition to SS back box which was already there).

Best bloody £55 spent - can hear the flat floor buzz properly now. The car also seems to pick up faster.

So next step...Downpipe (magnex seems nice and cheap)

Will there be a massive increase in loudness?
I have a VTA dump valve - will that give me flames on gear changes? I dont want to burn cars behind me or get arrested!

Downpipe does add more noise (Obviously). What you haven't stated is what year your car is? I'll assume MY01> so to get flames you'll need to fully decat ie Remove the up-pipe cat too as well as the downpipe one. You'll get a nice 'whistle' off the turbo once you decat the downpipe.I decatted my 01 in stages, centre section, then downpipe, then up-pipe and the biggest noise increase (On motorway journeys) came from the up-pipe change.Having said that,it sounds awesome with the full Scoobysport exhaust that I have!!

Go for it!!

Cheers Nick

I actually have a MY99 - so I won't be fully decated with a downpipe and centre? I have to change the up-pipe too?

Also, what are the chances of burning another car if you flame?! Is it illegal?

Thumbs up

I'm looking into the full de-cat having got a PPP'ed '02 WRX but I'm just a little concerned about reliability as I do about 25K miles a year. The warranty or lack off is a problem for me (potentialyl), suppose I'm just worried about loosing warranty on a three month old car!

Chances are there won't be any problems but I'm just too cautios I for my own good I suppose.

Lucky Strike,
You just need to find the 'right' dealer who will take care of any warranty issues for you!!
They are out there....

Good luck

Nick

P.S: It makes a MASSIVE difference to the performance of the car once it's decatted!!

Wink

Wrapping the down pipe with heat wrap stops some of the noise in the cabin..

Where are you based?

Can take you for a spin perhaps..

Thumbs down

Midlands most of the time and Kent at weekends..

Derby is a bit of a trek up to just to hear the exhaust...

You could ring me and I'll take you for a spin on the mobile??

Off line until tomorrow night now though..
