Fitting Quickshift
I've just obtained a Standard Sti quick shift kit (Subaru prodrive
kit I assume), and was going to have a go fitting it myself on
my MY99 classic turbo.
Anyone got any tips on what I should be doing as there are no
instructions with it or anything.
My method of attack was going to be - remove the standard kit
bush and linkage bolts and try and get the new one on in the same
place. Anyone got anything to add on this before I end up
skinning my knuckles on some sharp flange somewhere??
Cheers

Remove gearlever ****
Open centre console flap to expose 2 screws. Remove.
Clip this section of console away, unclip connector for mirror adjusters.
Unclip front section of console and lift off over gearlever.
Remove nut and bolt securing gearlever.
The gearlever is best to be prised out of it's location sharply, so find something you can lever the gearstick against and won't damage the surrounding area.
To refit the new one, get a block of wood, fit the new gearlever in position and hit the block of wood with a hammer on the top of the lever.
Once in, as in all good manuals, refitting is a reversal of removal

Thanks for that Alan but I think that you are referring to just
replacing the shift lever.
The kit that I've got (i'll try and take a pic), has the lever
already in a 'teflon'? socket and a couple of struts/selector
rods coming off it and a rubber gasket/gaitor.
Was hoping that it would just be a few bolts to undo but perhaps
I am being a bit optimistic!
