Question

Hi all,

Abit unsure if you actually need the heat shields fitted to the d/pipes and turbo. My dealer when asked says that they always break and rattle and we just normally take them off instead of replacing them if the customers paying, you don't really need them.
I'm not sure but I don't think the sports d/pipes have them so why do the standards have them?

Is my dealer right or wrong?

thanks for your help.

Heat is the killer of your power... When you ditch the heat shields, you always can wrap it with heat resistant tape.
The dealer is also right, when driving normal you won't notice a difference, but when the McRae virus is coming up, you want some power dont you ???

Forgive me for being stupid but do you mean just dumping the shields is OK?
Do drive it fairly hard most the time.

Thanks

I ran with mine for about 3 months and din't notice any problems. But, I've re-fitted it since (just needs a simple trim to fit over new Downpipes) as the excess heat will affect the IC efficiency and the IIRC the power steering resevoir is right above it, so you may over heat the fluid.
