If money were no object what would be the best exhaust Full System for getting power from a MY98 Turbo. This seems to be the best place to start, and thus is worth getting right prior to engine mods.

As far as turbos go, the best exhaust is no exhaust. The less back pressure you can get behind the turbine, the better it will work Given that you can't run no exhaust, I'de suggest the best compromise really depends on what you want to achieve, how much noise you can tolerate, whether you can live with slightly reduced ground clearance etc. There is no such thing as "one size fits all" in exhaust system design, and it's very dependant on what you want to achieve.

Cheers,

Pat.

Thanks Pat, I am after around 300bhp from a UK MY 98. I am starting with a blank sheet as I have an engine that will be built prior to a swap out. I believe the exhaust to be one of the most important mods and thus wish to buy the right one to start with. I am thinking Hayward and Scott or Revolution 3" bore full system. Would either of these be any good, if so what inlet system should I use to compliment. Any help would be very welcome.

Red face

You really want to buy a Nur spec r exhaust these are very good and remove your existing down pipe with cat, and replace with a straight through down pipe.

How about a 4 inch side exit (under door, like old rally cars)?

Blitz sounds best so far.

Dont forget exhaust weight: the lighter, the lighter the car

Also you want the zorst which has the straightest route out of the car too, at present the Hiper has the straightest exit of any of the exhausts imported into the UK at present, tho there are loads of Jap exhausts which are better ie Trust 5ieglen(SP?) etc....

Cool

The system on my car was made in the UK and I am fairly sure it is less restrictive than the HKS. Hopefully the guy who designed it has made some further progress on the "gearing up for production" front.

Thanks Guys,
I am new to all of this, but you have helped narrow things down somewhat. It is a mire I am thinking, and thats before I do any engine work. Oh well all things come to those who wait.

Road-Rash, You are a top man. I will mail you.

Thanks again, Jay.

I would ask pat for his own design of exhuast, it seems to be a well pitched compromise in terms of noise location, despite its very low back pressure.

I remember (i think) someone asking a similar question here regarding exhaust and power gains.

Didnt the Trust exhaust come up tops for power gains ?
