Question

John how are you guys doing on the remap for the JDM STI7. My buddy wants to get one done for his car but as you know we are in Trinidad. He wants to do the exchange via the post, but wants to be sure that it will perform well. You can email me at jdefreitas@wow.net

I am not happy to do postal maps for STis, even more so to a hot climate. Sorry.

John,

Do you think you will ever be comfortable in doing a postal map for the JDM STi-7 in a hot climate or are people like myself and others sh*t-out-of-luck

Cheers,
Ray

Out of luck is one way of looking at it. I would rather not sell you something at all than sell you something that could cost you ££££ for an engine rebuild if it all went wrong.

IMHO it is reasonably safe to supply standard maps for a 2.0 litre that starts out at 215 BHP and increase it by 10-20% (plus effects of other components), but even then it should be setup with appropriate monitoring if possible.

To tune to over 150 BHP/litre is another kettle of fish. Detonation is much more damaging the further you push things. Potentially the STi 7 setup is ideal for tuning, but not remotely.

I say the same for people with big turbos, in fact anything beyond decat exhaust on even a non STi UK I need to see the car.

Some will not even do any postal maps, and I can appreciate their good reasons why. I think you would struggle to get anyone to supply you something to be honest. Sorry, but IMHO it is better that way.
