Question

"cracks and failure to valves and cylinder head as a result of excess carbon build up"

It's a line from an extended warranty T&C. What types of failures would fall under that definition?

IMHO and im not that techie, but i assume they are 'get out of jail free' clauses for the warranty co. the first could be related to poor fueling and or old age, its very broad statement for denying responsibilitiy

if its a warranty co then the fact that piston slap and bearing failure are know probs may also exclude them from the policy, manufactuers policy is the best really as they have to take customer satifaction into account

more techie types may be better

It means that if ANYTHING goes wrong with your cylinder heads, then they will reject your claim saying that the fault was caused by carbon build up.

Pete,

Can they prove it was excess carbon that caused the failure?

What can be the cause of Piston Slap or a melted cyclinder?
