Question

I have recently bought an uprated oil cooler kit fron Think Automotive. The kit is very comprehensive and relocates the oil filter, which brings me to my question.

Has anyone out there fitted one of these?? and if so could you offer advice on the relocation of the oil filter and where to fit the oil cooler itself.

Thanks

I think you have to connect the oil cooler between the engine and the filter, you also have to remove the heat exchanger that is currently used on your engine, because you cant use them at the same time, the oil cooler fits between the radiator and the front bumper.

What do you mean by mounting pos, place the cooler in front of the radiator on the fan side, connect with the pipes, connect then he pipes to the oil filter and so on...

thanks HHxx

but looking at that installation you would have to remove the bumper every time you need to change the oil

rather then re-locating the oil filter the best type of oil cooler is the sandwich adapter with the 90/10 thermostat so that the cold oil is not passing thru the oil cooler(allows the moisture to be released from the oil). The adapter allows you to use brass or AN fittings w/ the appropriate adapters to route lines to a full time oil cooler, the oil/water oil cooler works decently for a stock vehicle, but as you increase your list of modifcations you need to add a little bit of extra cooling capacity to it. If you are wondering what sandwich adapter to use i will hint to you and say that honda's use the same filter(just different snout) so it won't be hard to find.

As for placing the oil cooler in front of the radiator i wouldn't worry the amount of airflow you have there is immense and adding this small unit to the airstream is not going to have an adverse affect on the effiency of the radiator.

For using the Relocation kit-I reccomend you put the filter somewhere that's easy for you to get to(along the frame rail would be your best bet and use AN fittings with Earl's Tough Stuff hose.
