Question

98S new shape Legacy GTB. My exhaust centre section is rotten, and replacement including cat would be £600! If it has a front cat, I'd be prepared to go catless in the middle, as I think I can get a centre to fit for under £100. Anyone know?

Also might want backbox. Current one has valve that is supposed to open at high revs, and it is stuck shut. Generally a bit rotten anyway. Anyone know if anyone makes one that fits a Legacy, but isn't too loud?

Ta, Andrew

I got a cat-less centre + back custom made by my local powerflow franchise (Drivers Glasgow) for £275. Its 3" centre with 2 resonators going down to 2.5" at the back-box. Very quiet, probably too quiet, I think 1 centre silencer would have been fine.

I recon by MOT time I'll have figured out a way of disabling the secondary turbo so that the test is done with the down-pipe catted primary only. Hopefully the single cat will be good enough for the test.

Mine is an older '97 GT, but I'm sure the post '98 cars have a similar exhaust setup.

Check http://www.powerflow.uk.com/dealers.asp for your local dealer.
