Hi guys i am currently getting a new engine fitted to my STI5 type r. The engine im getting is coming from a my97 sti type r. The problems we have encountered so far are that the wires for the idle control valve on my old engine are 6 whereas on the new engine the plug only takes 3 wires. Is there any way of making this wiring fit without having to change the wiring loom for the entire car???
Cheers
Andrew

Other problems are that the engine wiring loom that runs under the manifold from the new engine dont fit the plugs up next to the battery or the turbo!

Idle control valve is completely different between phase 1 and phase 2 engines, your Phase 2 ECU will not be able to control the Phase 1 idle value. Also the inlet manifold design is different so you may not be able to simply fit the Phase 2 manifold to the Phase 1 block.

There are numerous wiring harness differences between those 2 years of car, mainly due to them using different engines, I also believe the cams are different so the ECU ignition maps will need changing.
