Hi all,
After driving my STI 6 type r for a few months i have carried out a couple of mods, Fujitsubo exhaust, LINK ecu with re-mapp bu BR developments. I can now say that i have caught the tuning bug. I dont know whether i should stick with the bolt on mods or go the whole hog with a rebuild with all the trimmings. At the same time i want RELIABILITY!!!!! I know that by adding induction, injectors, decat etc the engine life will be shortened to say the least. What i want to know is, does an engine stay relaible and how long for if strong internals are used even if im pushing close to 400BHP???? I know that some people are pushing this kind of power that post on this board, what internals are you using and how long have you been running the engine SAFELY without any drams for???
Any input will be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Gez

Mail me per profile if you want info on my experience to date going from around 300bhp to currently well over 400bhp in progressive stages.

ChristianR,
I thought you were having a 2.2 or 2.5 engine fitted! I think you should be looking at a lot more than 400BHP. You should be looking at more like 460 BHP @ the wheels if not more.

Methinks this is a different ChristianR (there's a space in there on this one...), a bit likely the not-very 'pslewis' like 'pslewis.'.
Not sure what this pretending-to-be-someone-else malarky is all about, although maybe this is a real one this time with a coincidental name

Saxoboy, there's loads of scoobs over the 400BHP mark around. Theres even the odd 500bhp monster with 2.5l engine. Only thing is that many scoob owners decide to keep quiet about their monsters which is nice i think as it gives us a better image.

I reckon you want to speak to Mark (lateral-performance). Sounds like his sort of thing!

Long term 400+ bhp reliability even with a rebuild has yet to be proved?
