Forge DV VTA - springs?
Hi, got one of these fitted to a MY97 UK.
I have a spare spring (red) and a blue piston type thingy....
What are these for? What does the different spring / piston acheive?
Thanks!
Paul

Different piston? not sure on this one but the red spring is stiffer than the blue spring that comes in the DV as standard. This means the DV won't release until a greater pressure is achieved, hence you get the WRC "chatter" type sound of the non released air stalling the turbo impella blades.
I ran mine like this for a little while (on my MY97) but with a turbo with 63k miles on it I didn't want to add any more stress to the poor thing.

Gossy got that from me!
Before I sold it to gossy I got a service kit with a new piston and seals. I serviced the kit so that I knew it was ok.
I left the blue piston in there so that gossy could see it had been done.
As for the red spring, it is slightly stiffer than the blue spring fitted at the moment. The blue makes more noise, where as the red gives chatter. (I think!)
