Heat Shield rattle

I have the all to common problem of rattling heat shields.
The heat shield in question, is not the bottom section one but in the middle section, I think its called the 'UP' pipe.
Can this one be removed with no undesirable effects?
I am taking it to a dealer tomorrow for another job so will get him to remove it if the response says it should be ok
