When accelerating hard I am getting a slight hesitation at about 3.8k revs then again about 4.5k revs, in 3rd and 4th gears and sometimes again at about 5.5k revs, it’s not noticeable when accelerating gently, car is a MY96 is fully de-catted, has a dawes and is running on Optimax

Anyone got any theories?? I am pretty sure it is not fuel cut as the boost is only reaching 13psi to 14psi at the time of hesitation and only drops slightly during the hesitation.

I Checked the resistance of the coil packs recently and they were OK, the plugs were replaced 2-3k miles ago

I just had a similar problem on my MY00 last month. Ok when accelerating through the whole rev range moderately but it spluttered when it hit 5k in 2nd/3rd etc... when accelerating hard. It also gave me jolt when I changed between 1st and 2nd which nearly made me do a face plant into the steering wheel.

Mine turned out to be a faulty MAF caused by a RAMAIR filter
which was oil based. The dealer changed the MAF, added a standard panel filter and reset the ECU and it was puuuurrrfect after!

Do as said above but also look at the fact that your wastegate could be clogged and needs cleaning (including pipework), this would cause you not to boost as high as normal and also some slight hesitation (a little bit of over boosting).
