Hi.
I would like to know how it is going with the new strong syncro gearset that someone was testing(was it R19ket?).
Does it hold up?
Is it easy to shift and so on?.
Regards.

so far the ones that I knwo of have held up well, but there arent many ebing tested to limit as few cars around have enough torque for that.
Only one I know of was marks (r19ket) and his took some serious abuse, then the engien failed due to no fault of his own.
In terms of use, from what i could tell in the car, it was no different from the use of a normal gearbox except that it has a straight cut first so is more whiny in that gear.

Hi,
Adam has already mentioned most of the details, but just to add that so far I have managed to damage the rear crown wheel, and pinion, and snap a piston gudgeon pin, but the box was still workng fine.
Apart from a little more noise in 1st/2nd, you can't tell the difference.
The kits are guaranteed to 450bhp/400ftlbs, with some head room.
Mark.

Tony,
Whilst I was hoping to offer them a little cheaper, having had the first batch in, and worked out the final costing, they are £1635 + VAT.
I just saw your other post, and I'm sure you will be fine, with a well re-built standard box.
There's only one company I would trust to re-build MY box, and that would be Town End, in Carnforth. They also do box's on exchange.
Speak to Stuart, he got me out of "deep sh*t" at VERY short notice.

Cheers for that Mark. I quite surprised how 'cheap' the gear kit is actually.... i was expecting it to be quite a lot more expensive. But as you say probably far too superior spec to what i need.
I've had a few parts before of the guys at Town End.... not too far from Manchester (nice run up to the Lakes ). I'll drop them an e-mail and get a feel for price.
Thanks again,
Tony.

Big Bear... who cares... you wont break it..
AFAIK if it is built by a specialist then it has a *lifetime* warranty otherwise none...
* But take what I say with a pinch of salt.. *

David go carefull talking to Bigbear he's a jinx. I was talking to him yesterday at the Big Southern Meet at Longleat and he was telling me how he keeps destroying 3rd gear. I drove my WRX there in the morning running like a dream, but just as I was leaving Longleat on the hill upto the exit at about 4000 rpm there was a bang from the underside of my Scooby and a sound like a hammer drill. Yes 3rd gear had blown. I drove the 60 miles home minus 3rd but towards the end of the journey 4th and 5th were also noisy. Unlucky, coincidence or was I jinxed by Bigbear.
Bigbear go for 1 of Marks gearboxes because if it's good enough for him it will be more than good enough for anyone else.
Colin ( dead purple WRX )

Just to put my 2p worth in. Thoroughly recommend the g/box - if it takes 450BHP ish + some severe abuse without breaking it'll do for me !
Choice of ratios to suit all tastes !
Done about 2500 miles on mine and well pleased.
Nice one Mark - cheers !

I'm normally a jinx on most things when it comes to cars , get intouch with Townend Garage they will be able to rebuild the box at a reasonable price

Cheers Big Bear,
I'm not in a hurry to get my Scooby back on the road as I have just bought a runner around for the Winter, so I have got a lot of time to decide which option to go for and if I can afford 1 of Marks boxes. It would be nice to be able to get to 60mph in second and not need third for 0-60 sprints.
