Steer clear of the HKS super powerflow (big green mushrooms) on a later scoob. Had one on my MY00 and it shagged the MAF after 500 miles. I fitted a K&N induction kit afterwards and had no probs at all (after about 5000 miles).
A mate with a MY99 has got a HKS and he's on his third MAF senser!
Earlier scoobs are ok aparrantly as they have a different type of MAF senser (wire instead of a film).

Remember that an induction kit will probably invalidate your warranty (depending on your dealer).

Hi.
I fitted a jetex to mine and it works well.
No problems with any thing and can just here the dump valve.
I think you get 3/4 bhp with this but seems to work well with the full de-cat.
Where in Lincolnshire are you?

Wink

.... and any bills due to MAF sensor failures should be forwarded to WRXBOB c/o scoobynet....!

Only joking WRXBOB, glad the ITG works for you as I enjoyed it for the 10k problem free miles that I used it.

It was only the final few metres when it fecked the MAF that I didn't enjoy quite as much!!!!

PS I'm leaving this ITG debate once and for all as each to their own.
I fully agree with all the views that 'realistically there should be no way for the green goo to get to the engine side and then onto the MAF', but my original point still stands that I fitted mine perfectly and upon cleaning the newly replaced MAF there was the gunk again.

Just stating what happened and what I saw......that's all folks!

I just fitted a K&N to mine, really easy to fit, £103 and really smoothed out the running and performance of my scoob.
Also the do a search for MAF failure I did, and could not find a single post with somone running a K&N induction kit and experiencing MAF failure.

a very respectable tuning house in japan recommends the apexi power intake as it is the only dry pod for a gc8,adds about 10 ponnies and it has a specially formulated paper that filters more carbon particles than the std filter.
carbon particles and oil are the two my99-00 afm killers the third is vibration.
i fitted mine last week ,lets see if they are right or wrong...

Blachie, where did you get your apexi filter from and how much was it? I remember seeing a filteration test quite a while ago and the apexi filter won it hands down. My mate got one for his Pulsar and it looks like a nice well made piece of kit.

Cheers

Steve

you can try takakaira.co.jp it is cheap.
yes i know about the filtration test i read it too.
ps.i was using the power intake on my my00 mr2 spyder for 60000kms,the filtration cabability is superb,i used to wash it with hot water and soap, and it always looked new.
ps.i was quoted 3times (!!!)the price that takakaira gives from some uk vendors that write in this forum.unbeleivable....
