OK Ive seen threads on this vane many times but never bothered to take in the answer.

What Max boost pressure can I run SAFELY on my car. The car is a STI 3 Wagon with a STI 4 lump complete with all the STI 4 bolt on bits (turbo etc etc)
The car is otherwise standard except for a fully decated exhaust

I run the car on Optimax + NF

I am having the HKS EVC set up on Thursday on a rolling road by somebody who should know what they are doing.

I currently run max boost at 1.0 but have been told that the STI 4 can safely take 1.4 by some people & others have advised a safe figure of 1.2.

I have already replaced the original engine due to a melted piston & I dont want a repeat

Any thought would be appreciated, I am not out to drag ever single horse out of the engine but if I can safely get some more I might as well.

Stuart

Raising the boost alone is asking for trouble on a Jap import - at standard boost with an exhaust they can be already retarding the ignition quite a lot on the best UK fuel. If you map the ignition and the fuelling appropriately many do run 1.4 bar.
