this is exactly what happens to mine when cold, sounds like a misfire, splutters, and little pops fromt eh exhaust, but fine when warm

i have the separate coil packs too. changed my plugs, but still there.

i havent found the problem yet, but its very annoying

ive been searching around and been told it can be faulty coil packs and dropping plug gap to 0.6 if it cures the fault then its faulty coil packs, mine are at 0.6mm and still have problem maybee some of you will have better luck

What petrol are you putting in ?

On 95ron mine sounds like a bag of nails when cold and feels lumpy. On 97 or 98 it is fine.

I have this problem. Car always starts fine and when cold rev's round to 1800 rpm ish.

The problem seems like its a little lumpy. (engine wobbles) but as soon as its been running for 3 or 4 mins its gone. the car pulls fine all the way round the rev range.

the idle speed is 900rpm and this seems fine.

If anyone has any ideas that would be great. I'm just a little worried that it could be doing damage on start up.
The car is a 95 WRX.

cheers
G.
