Hope you guys can answer this question.

I have a MY00 saloon with a SS downpipe, backbox and Magnex centre. Also have an ITG filter and I have just installed a Prodrive PPP ECU. The question is would an uprated BOV be of benefit here, or is the standard one up to the job, given that the breathing of the engine has been greatly improved. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Spikey

P.S. if a new BOV is suggested please can I have a make and model no.

If you don't mind me interrupting the thread for a quick question, how much did the PPP ECU cost?

Also, how did it differ in the car?

Am about to fit an APS dual dump-valve soon.
It recirculates at low boost or town driving (so little or no noise) and dumps to air when flooring it (ie loud).

You may notice faster in-gear acceleration, but apart from that, it doesn't really offer anything much other than the noise.

I have a similar set-up to you and to be honest the stock DV copes.
Only upgrading because larger turbo and intercooler is being fitted too.

Jacey Boy you may need to change the spring. I had the same on mine. Hardly any noise at all. I contacted the nice people at Forge who sent me a softer spring for free. Now it's whooossshh pssshttt

Spikey,

I also have a MY00 but with TSL D/P, HKS center and rear and a K&N kit. I have recently fitted a HKS super squential dump valve and there is No Way I am taking it off Massive whoosh noise that can be adjusted by the nut in the back of the valve and the ocassional pop out the back of the car

Well Chuffed!!

I have a forge VTA valve on my MY96 and it is ridiculously loud even if you drive slowly - young kiddies love it, but to be honest it would be better if it was a bit quieter!!!

Jacey Boy

I have a Forge DTA valve on my STi7 and mine is definately not quiet. Must be a different spring in yours. Have a word with Forge. My girlfriend's classic Scoob also has a Forge DTA valve, but this is much quieter, infact it sounds quite polite!!!!!!

I brought a Forge atmos DV to replace my Baileys Evo DV. The Baileys one was much louder but it wasn't as nice a sound as the Forge.

My Forge DV came with a blue spring inside and I asked Forge to send me the tougher red spring. Now I get a WRC flutter sound at low RPMs (between 3.5k and 4.5k) any more and I get a short sharp Ptshhht.

Absolutely love it now

In answer to yoour question i personally dont think there is any benefit unless u are uprating the boost and need a stiffer spring in your dv. When i uprated the ic and turbo the standard oem dv seemed to make the car jerk after lift off as if the extra pressure would cause it to close temp and then reopen. A stonger spring in a aftermarket dv cured it. I cant speak for to atmos cos its loud enough with a induction kit to warrant £300 on a sequential hks jobby.

Cheers
Paul.
