Unhappy

Just changed my exhaust system for a scoobysport one and seemed to have lost power!! When I hit 4,500 revs turbo seems to cut out for a second then comes back in but acceleration is sluggish!!
I noticed when they were fitting the exhaust the gasket they used to connect the back box to the centre pipe was slightly too small therefore narrowing the bore by about 5 millimeters as they did not have the correct one.
I know this is bound to be the problem, but would it cause the turbo to react in this manner??
I know that I should have said something to the guys that fitted it but I just wanted to get the system on so that I could go and have some fun!
Bad idea I know!!! Is it likely to have caused any damage or ecu problems??
Cheers in advance!
Justin.
