can a 'knocklink' be used with the factory sensor?

i have the chance to buy a knocklink, but it doesnt come with a sensor.
there are only three wires, red/pos, black/neg, and a brown one (think the colours are correct) to the sensor. can i connect this to the factory sensor or is the signal etc different?
*i will be removing the factory wire from the sensor*
