piston ring question
#1
hi,
have got the parts now to rebuild the engine. was looking at the pistons and rings earlier.
as you may know, the lower oil control ring is actually 3 separate rings, with one weird looking, and a thin solid ring both above and below.
question is, i noticed that one of the thin solid rings has a slight 'kick' at one end. does this ring go above or below, and does the kick go upwards or downwards?
i am thinking it goes above, and the kick goes upwards, as there is a little semi-circle cutout in the piston which this could locate in.
anybody know?
thanks
ian
