I get the feeling my engine is about to go bang!! I bought the car a few months back complete with receipts for engine work including a new crank, con rod and various other bits to the value of around £2,700. The work was done in November 2001 by Powerzone. I have noticed a slight knocking noise, doesn't sound like piston slap, is it likely that my crank is on its way out again?? Haven't heard any other STI engines so I aint sure how it should sound. It sounded like this when I purchased it, not very loud at all just faint in the back ground. I was told by someone at Scooby sport that Scooby engines aren't the sweetest sounding and that it was probably fine!
Thanks in advance, Justin.

Its almost impossible to diagnose a problem from an e-mail or phone call, especially when it may be just starting to develop.

Probably the best thing to do is to take it back to the people who built the engine and ask them if it is OK and they are happy for you to continue driving it.

Cheers Pete, I'll see what they have to say.
