As some of you may be aware we are looking into re-mapping the MY92 - MY96 Subaru ECU using a daughter board which plugs into the spare socket of the early ECU.

We have currently in existance a few prototypes succesfully running modified code, currently set to 13.5psi and also providing better mid-range punch.

But what would be nice is a glimps of a range of ECUTECK maps that will show us how this map compares to a standard MY99/00 map.

We can then proceed to MAP the early cars in a similar way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to rip off any of the good work done by ECUTEK, but as this solution is fully map-able I just and the braind behind it really spent the money of cracking the mapping process rather than the actual Map, I thought someone out there may like to pass on the Map information.

If I'm stepping on anyones toes then I'm sorry, but I just thought this post would be worth a try.

think you might be stepping on peoples toes...

Can you say "proprietary information".

Also these cars have a different turbo, which would tend towards totally different boost acheiveable, and ignition advance.

I know they have different turbo's, they also have different boost control solenoids and ignition.

Just trying to find out what fuelling and ignition advance etc..etc..had been done to achieve the result, as I beleive TEK1 doesn't up the boost at all.

ECUTEK have stated that is does not want to develop anything for the early ECU as it would not be cost effective. Therfore, we are not stealing anything they intend to use or do.

It's up to us guys to sort it out, open source.

P.S Mailbox should now be O.K

Its already been done, there was a whole web site about it around for a while before it closed, and there are already several "chips" that do this available from japan.

Good luck with it though, please understand that no tuner gives his maps away, they are too hard earned and normally built up from extensive and time consuming experience.

Hi Bob,

Yeh! we are aware of what's available in Japan if you know were to look.
Japanese sites also provide adaptor boards too.
However, we have developed our own version in the UK which will undercut the Japanese version and has the advantage of being produced in the UK 'ready built' or on a DIY bassis.

We shall also be supplying Map data 'Open Source' on a dedicated web-site, so owners can create there own Map if required.

Yep I know it sounds dangerous, but no more than fitting an FCD and one of those Dawes things....

I can't see proprietary information being a problem. After all, Tek 1 involves writing an original Subaru map. Where did that come from?

I thought a tek 1 was a modified subaru map, not just the bog standard 801 or whatever.

Hey, david, you calling me stupid!??!

BTW, while my mail is dead, I made another select monitor interface last night, so i should be able to send out for the weekend with the software to dump the ecu to disk.

Scott, website ftp account.

I have made 1 extra box so far, possibly another tonight. I am currently using the paperclip connector method, works fine.

They are complete with a 9pin d-type plug straight in the back of a pc, or on the end of a serial extension cable (prefered). I have put about 1.2 metres of cable on, as it's all I had.

Will come complete with instructions and pic showing connections.

Very easy really, and it won't blow up if you get it wrong, as it's all protected.
