1. Does this fit straight onto a MY00?
2. Can I leave the original diffs/final drive?
3. Will it take big power?
4. How much?
5. Where from?

John,

Spoke to a mate at Banbury on fri pm. He says it'll fit ok, but you'll need a shorter prop, and a fudged/modified gearbox cross member. I'm not sure about the ratios, but i think it'll be a 4.444 CWP so you'll need the STI rear diff too.

Seen posts from other that say it won't though so might be wrong but my mate is usually spot on.

Cheers
Dave

it is larger but shares the space between six gears instead of five.

I believe it will fit on your engine as the bolt holes align as does the bell housing. It has extra mounting locations to my knowledge meaning you wont be able to secure it as much as it would like.

Final drive is still 4.44 to my knowledge, btu worth checking, not an issue anyway as everything is available.

chances of finding one? nil!

case closed!

Wink

It wouldn't go fast enough to crash it properly

Flame suit applied and zipped tightly, breathing equipment in place.

All I wanted was the good bit, maybe the intercooler looks OK too if you moved it four feet forwards and rotated through 90 degrees

I was in a fully decatted one running 20 PSI the other day (so maybe about 300 BHP) and that wasn't very quick either. Triple nomex ready shoot your best Nice car, not fast.

(no it wasn't detting)

In terms of pace it felt like a PPP MY00 with the original downpipe down roads I know well.

Then you work out the power to weight ratio and realise it probably was about the same, and less torque per unit mass too. It felt like it. Sorry.

Must admit I test drove one a couple of months back. Thought my MY00 would leave it for dead. And that was before the TEK3.
They are a lot more civilised though, you just don't get the same senatation of speed in them.

The thing is you have to 'learn' how to drive the STI at high revs it is a completely different animal. I have a few speed check points where I live - bridges etc and the STI is as quick sometimes quicker than my old MY00.

Now before you start going on my old car was quick it had:

Link ecu
flowed headers
Scoobysport dp
Hks super drager
and a BRD md254 hybrid

I was pushing out 308bhp and 280lbs so the STI can't be that slow can it?

Now where's my napalm?

My MY00 with the MD304 hybrid/manifold/TMIC would absolutely trounce the STi I was in at the same boost (20 PSI both, the STi with boost control and Unichip, mine with an ECU), and both saw plenty of revs. It would still have beaten it with the little TD04 hybrid at 20 PSI. How can a car with another 250 kg and less power be quicker? This one certainly wasn't by any stretch of the imagination. Very unimpressed.

I was pulling out a couple of car lengths from STis at Knockhill on the TD04 hybrid and I can't even drive the thing well.

refresh our memories regarding the weights please?

I could be in with a shot on the track in my legacy if I take out the rear seats, spare wheel etc.
